Christy's 40th cake

When my good friend Christy decided to have a shared 40th birthday party with her brother in law Mike it didn't take her long to come up with a theme. The 80's was a perfect fit. So as the time came closer Christy and I started brain storming for ideas. After searching the internet we found a really cool 4 tiered wedding cake that had black fondant and florescent paint splatters. It was the perfect base for everything else. So after a bit more we came up with a cassette tape, Mtv, pac-man stars, and a cool pair of sunglasses. Of course no birthday cake reclaiming their youth would be complete without a skateboard for Mike and a roller skate for Christy.

The top tier was florescent tye dyed with vanilla buttercream and the bottom was vanilla cake with "wedding cake" filling. Wedding cake filling is vanilla pudding, crushed pineapple, and cool whip. I call it wedding cake because that was what my mom made for Rob and I when we had our first wedding.
